A downloadable game for Windows

Somn is about a girl named Sarah and her journey into her subconscious mind. Dying doesn’t wake her from this strange dream, and as a player you will solve puzzles and overcome challenges by using this very fact to your advantage.

Somn challenges existing gaming conventions by making the player’s death an integral and useful part of the core experience, and the result is a fresh and engaging take on puzzle platforming, which is sure to peak the curiosity of any fan of the genre.

Puzzles are solved by pushing, stacking and leveraging the stones Sarah leaves behind in her wake, and the result is a physics-based puzzle platformer with lots of charm, mystery and intrigue. Sarah’s story is one of escaping an abusive personal situation by delving into the deepest parts of her mind to find the answers she needs.

I'm soooo in love with this game!
And I made a letsplay!

What I like:

  • Graphics, soft color palette, calm music - a pleasant soothing atmosphere is created like a dream
  • Sense of humor
  • Level design. I'm not good at some platformers where all you have to do is just jump. But this game is more about solving puzzles, and I'm happy with that!
  • Lavel design [2]. The respawn points are very well thought out so that the player is comfortable
  • As you progress, new mechanics are added that you can quickly understand

Suggestions:

  • I can't save my progress, it will be really cool if I can do it in the future
  • Sometimes it looks like there is enough distance between the stones, but Sarah can't fit between them
  • It would be great if you added information about timeskip to the description on this page. I read about this feature in the manual after I finished playing T____T
(I didn't want to read the manual before starting, because sometimes there are spoilers in them)
  • When the platform is lowered onto the stones, it seems that the stones sink a little into the ground (but not completely). But it seems that now these stones are on the platform, but when it rises up, it is not so. It confuses me a little. Maybe the platform should destroy the stones? But I'm not sure about this idea
Thank you for this wonderful game! I want to see more levels in the future! (I hope you will do more levels?)

Thank you niyaniya for playing our game. I watched your play-through and got such a warm feeling seeing you trying to figure out our puzzles. We have read and appreciate your feedback!

We have an underground portion of the game that's playable, and have mapped out a third more trippy level of the game which we might publish if we find the hours to complete it.
